Distillery

The distilling industry is that part of the food and beverage industries engaged in clarifying, flavouring, blending and aging alcohol to make potable spirits (eg, brandies, grain spirits, rum) and establishments which manufacture ethyl alcohol, whether they are or are not used
in potable spirits.
Steam and hot water are integral both to the brewing process, and to peripheral activities such as CIP and sterilisation. The production of the ethanol distillated from sugar molasses by utilisation of yeast. So there is wide scope of the energy conservation and efficiency
improvement. The versatility and efficient nature of Turtle Turbines provide the exhaust steam at the correct pressure and temperature for use in the critical processes in a distillery. In perfect combination with a high pressure boiler, the entire power demand of the Distillery
can be self generated.

Boimass Power

Biomass is organic material that comes from plants and animals, and it is a renewable source of energy. Biomass contains stored energy from the Sun. The Biomass used for power generation can range form agro waste wish as Baggasse of a Sugar Plan to Risk Husk from a Rice Miill. When biomass is burned, the chemical energy in biomass is released as heat.

The Biomass is burnt to raise steam and power is generated deploying simple Rankine Cycle. Biomass Power Plants can be either Captive Power Plants which generate power and feed to the Grid or these can be working in Cogeneration mode, supplying Power and Heat to the Industry. Biomass to Power is a carbon neutral process.

Carbon Black

Carbon black is composed of fine particles consisting mainly of carbon.Various features of carbon black are controlled in production by partially combusting biomass,  oil or gases. Carbon black is widely used in various applications from black coloring pigment of newspaper inks to electric conductive agent of high-technology materials.

Carbon black industries usually generate excess heat. This excess heat can be effectively converted into Steam using Waste Heat Recovery Boiler. The Steam is then passed through a Steam Turbine to Generate Power.

Chemicals

An industry in which the raw materials undergo chemical conversion during their processing into finished products. In the chemical process industry the products differ chemically from the raw materials as a result of undergoing one or more chemical reactions during the manufacturing process.

Steam is commonly used in the chemical process industries (CPI) for process heating, cleaning and sterilisation, humidification, distillation among other applications. Steam Turbine are effectively integrated to generate power using the pressure difference between the Boiler Pressure and the Process Pressure. Turtle Turbines has supplied several Turbine to Chemical Industries even with varying steam flows.

Dyes and Pigments

There are two types of colorants – dyes and pigments. Dyes are soluble substances used to pass color to the substrate and find applications primarily in textiles and leather. Pigments are insoluble substances and could either be in powdered or granular form.

There are a number of steps in this processes, and some of them require steam that is clean and pure. Steam turbines have low investment costs, simple operation procedures, and can be integrated easily into the plant’s process. They operate within various power ratios and do not require extensive maintenance.

Edible Oils

The production process of vegetable oil involves the removal of oil from plant components, typically seeds. This can be done via mechanical extraction using an oil mill or chemical extraction using a solvent. The extracted oil can then be purified and, if required, refined or chemically altered.

Steam is used for Deodorization and Vacuum Generation. Steam deodorization is one of the main steps in edible oil refining process. Steam deodorization aims to remove those undesirable smells in edible oil, so that it does not influence product oil quality. A PRV is used to drop the Steam Pressure. A Steam Turbine is installed to work as Rotary PRV and Recover the energy otherwise lost in the PRV. The Energy thus Recovered is converted into useful clean Electrical Energy.

Fragrances are complex combinations of natural and/or man-made substances that are added to many consumer products to give them a distinctive smell. Perfume (Fragrance)  is a mixture of  essential oils or aroma compounds.

Steam is used in Steam Distillation process at low Pressure. Pressure is dropped with the help of PRV to achieve the required Pressure for the Process. Steam Turbine are Installed parallel to the PRV to generate Power. Turtle Turbines suppliesSteam Turbines that help reduce energy costs, provide a reliable source of energy and manage energy needs for various processes.

Jaggery

Jaggery (or gur) is form of unrefined sugarand is obtained by boiling rawconcentrated sugar cane juice till it solidifies.

Steam is used in the steam boiling process. Steam boiling is a step towards modernisation of jaggery-making. The Steam is generated in Boiler using the Bagasse which is a residue after crushing the Sugar Cane. The steam generated is first used for Power Generation in the Steam Turbines and then used for process heating. Turtle Turbines has supplied several Steam Turbines for Jaggery Industry making them self reliant on power and heat.

The Metals and Minerals industry is one of the foundations of the global economy. Whether it be iron ore for construction, rare-earth metals for modern technologies, coal for power, or lithium for batteries, mining operations provide the necessary components to produce goods that are vital in driving the world’s economy.

The Metals and Minerals industry is also notoriously energy intensive, it is very important to have a constant and reliable source of power. Hence, the availability of captive power becomes very important from production perspective.

In several ferrous and non ferrous Metal making industries waste heat is a byproduct. This heat is used in a Waste Heat Recovery Boiler to generate Steam. The steam thus generated is using in a Steam Turbine to generate power.

Milk & Dairy Industry

The dairy industry produces a wide range of perishable and semi-perishable foods and food ingredients. Raw milk is processed into a wide variety of dairy foods which include, Pasturised Milk, Cheese, Butter, Yogurt etc.,

Fibres occurring in natural sources or waste paper is converted into various useful forms of paper such as News Pring, Brown Paper, Tissue Paper, Writing Paper etc. Steam is used in many processes in Pulp and Paper making such as in the cooking of pulp, paper drying and the like. There is also the heating and dissolution of chemicals, which also requires steam.

Steam turbines used very effectively in the Pulp &Paper industry.Steam Turbines provide the Process Heat and Power. The Boiler generates steam at high or medium pressure. The Steam is then fed to the Steam Turbine to generate Power. Exhaust steam from the Turbine is used in the process heating.

Rice Mills

Steam turbines play a key role in the Rice Mill industry. Utilisation of husk-fueled cogeneration system to meet the requirement of thermal and electrical needs enhances the energy efficiency and production capacity of rice mills. This will not only result in considerable savings but also leads to a sustainable supply of electricity and additional revenue from the surplus electricity generated from saved rice husk. By means of a steam turbine topping cycle, electricity is generated and the turbine exhaust steam is utilized for heating applications.

Soap and Detergents

The soap and detergent industry includes companies that are primarily engaged in manufacturing soap, synthetic organic detergents, inorganic alkaline detergents, and crude and refined glycerin from vegetable oils and animal fats. Soap and Chemical industries consume both electrical and thermal energy in their processes. Sulphuric Acid

Sulphuric acid is an important industrial chemical which is used in the manufacturing processes of many goods over a wide range of applications.

The production of sulphuric acid from sulphur generates heat. The majority of this heat is recovered as steam and is used to generate electricity. Sulphur-burning acid plants produce more electricity than they consume when all of the steam is sent to a steam turbine generator, which can be used to operate other facilities in Plant or also can be sold to market.

Tea Estate

Steaming in the tea production process has the longest documented history. The principal is to cook the plucked leaves with steam as quickly and evenly as possible so as to stop any enzymatic activities in the leaves for subsequent steps of shaping and drying.

The plant utilizes both electrical and thermal energy as primary energy input for the production process. Steam is usually generated in medium pressure boilers and supplied to the plant after dropping the pressure in a Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV).
